#224 Corn Maze Layout + The Hot Blog Hot w/ Jacob the scrappy assistant

Hi everyone! I went to my first ever corn maze on Sunday and it was actually the largest corn maze in California or (Southern Carlifornia) one of those! And boy was I tired and it was so hot on Sunday, I'm so glad I brought plenty of water LOL! But of course I "HAD" to do it and get some great pics since I am a scrapbooker at heart!!

For my LO I used one of my favorite Cricut cartridges. Country Life for the corn and banner. I stamped the sentiment on the banner flags and used a black gel pen for the outlines. I stamped the cute face on the corn with PKS Laughy Taffy faces and embossed with my "snake skin" Cuttlebug filder to make it look like corn kernels. I added pop dots under the green parts of the corn, it's a pretty big piece of corn that's about 10 inces, my son was pretending it was real corn and fake eating it LOL!

I used Kraft paper for the background and a Fall stack from 2010 DCWV "Autumn Splendor" and added a punch from Fiskars as a border and "Lemondrop" yellow twine from the Twinery. The flowers are Recollections and the bling pieces are large bling I got from Walmart. I also added rick rack ribbon on the small photo mats. I used Walnut stain distress ink on the photo mats, and sprayed Olive Vine Glimmer Mist on the Kraft paper, and stamped a burlap stamp on the Kraft paper with white Acrylic paint.

Of course I had to make the corn a girl, with that big flower in her hair!

I wanted a non-Cricut title so I dug out my old Inkadinkado clear alphabet stamps and inked them up using yellow Acrylic paint!! a cheap alternative to inks! I also painted the edges with Burnt orange colored paint. I bought the paints at Michael's for .50- .75 pretty cheap huh!?!

Time for The Hot Blog Hop with Jacob wth Scrappy Assistant!! Plese scroll down to view my last 3 Jacob post to win a $15 Peachy Keen gift certificate!

On Sunday we went to a pumpkin patch and did a HUGE corn maze and I brought Jacob and Clippy the Koala with me on their last adventure in Southern California. It was really hard getting Jacob to wear this shirt in public, I mean he always wants to be naked LOL!!! His excuse was that he can't stand this 93 degree hot weather in October ugh!! Clippy the Koala was getting so freaked out in the corn maze because we kept getting lost, he thought we were going to be trapped there all night and the aliens would come and get us LOL!!!! (Ok I watch way too much TV haha!!!!) Jacob inspired me to make a Corn Maze Layout for today's post... great idea Jacob you are sooo smart and sexy haha!

Today Jacob the Scrappy Assistant helped me soooo much, by helping me put away all my supplies I used for today's project! It also made me realize how many supplies are needed just to create ONE scrapbook page!! I think I need to show this pic to my hubby and tell him I "NEED" to go shopping for more supplies so I can get more Layout's done LOL!
I am so grateful to have Jacob helping me in my Scrapbook room, I mean my hubby has never helped me put away all of my treasures haha!

  17. Love the layout, great face on the corn ear. Wonderful colors/patterns. Glad Jacob and Clippy got to go out one last tine. Did you show them the original Children of the Corn movie first? Bet that would have made for an very special journal entry on the layout. =) Thanks.

  20. So clever to use acrylic paints for your lettering, and the snake skin for the corn kernels. That Jake, he must've told you those secrets. Tell him thank you for sharing his many talents.
